Crossing Over from Cub Scouts
If your Scout is finishing up Cubs and you're evaluating troops, this is the right moment. Crossover means stepping into something bigger — a troop where the Scouts are actually in charge and the adventures are real.
Troop 221 has been in Sugar Creek since 1938. We camp monthly, we go to Philmont, we've produced 386 Eagle Scouts. We know how to welcome a new Scout. Come visit a meeting first — no paperwork, no commitment. Just show up and see how it works.
What to Expect at Your First Meeting
Walk in. You don't need anything for your first visit. Wear whatever. The Scouts will be in uniform and running the meeting — that's the point. You'll meet Scoutmaster Jeff Martin and Committee Chair Nick Dodson.
Costs: BSA registration is around $80 per year. A uniform — shirt and pants — runs $100–$150. Monthly campouts are typically $15–$30. Summer camp is more. Money is never a reason to not join. Talk to us.
Gear: You need nothing for your first visit. Once your Scout decides to join, we'll point you toward what actually matters versus what's nice to have.
